I received an offer of a position. Does it come with a benefits package?
We sent this question to the benefits office and here is their helpful reply. Note that the standard TA/GIA/Lecturer position is half-time (50%FTE) for 9 months.
"For Grad TA, IA and RA's - must be appointed 50% FTE for at least 4.5 months per fiscal year to qualify for employee insurance benefits. For all the positions, the best general place to highlight is our Texas State HR benefits page and then there are links under each topic. For example, there is a Summary of Benefits for faculty. There are also more details under the Retirement Programs section.

This link takes you to more specific information about the insurance programs for all employees. http://www.ers.state.tx.us/Insurance/ Also, please feel free to reference our office if any of your candidates would like additional information or have questions about our benefits package. Details are on the bottom of the Summary of Benefits on how to contact us." -
If I receive a position (TA/GIA/Lecturer), will tuition be waived?
Unfortunately, we are not able to waive tuition at this time. We are able to offer in-state tuition to anyone who receives a TA/GIA/Lecturer position in the department. Additional scholarship funds are available through The Graduate College and the College of Science and we strongly encourage our students to apply for those funds.

How much should I expect to pay for tuition?
The following links will take you to University web pages that contain detailed tuition information. Please note that students who receive support in the form of a TA/GIA/Lecturer position are eligible for in-state tuition. http://www.finaid.txstate.edu/graduate/cost.html
