Mathematics graduate students are encouraged to work as graduate instructional/teaching assistants. The stipends for these assistantships are comparable to the national norms, do NOT include tuition and fees, and generally require teaching two courses per semester.
All applicants to our master's and doctoral programs are automatically considered for an assistantship as part of the admissions process. No separate assistantship application or additional forms are required.
Applicants are ranked within their respective programs, and assistantship offers are made based on those rankings. The number of assistantships available varies each semester depending on factors such as the number of students graduating, transitioning to research positions, or returning from research appointments to teaching assistant roles.
Priority deadlines for admission to the program are:
Fall Semester - February 1
Spring Semester - August 15
Graduate assistantships are limited. Submit your graduate admissions application to one of our programs by these dates for priority consideration.
In addition to the financial aid from the Mathematics Department through assistantships, the Graduate College offers a wide variety of funding through scholarships, fellowships, and other graduate assistantships.
